Maggie Grace and Maggie Gyllenhaal

Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21, 1983 in Worthington Ohio, is an American actress. She is famous for her role as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills respectively on ABC's Lost television show. Originally from Worthington Ohio, she left high school to move to Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. While struggling financially she landed her first acting gig as Rachel's Room's title character the web-based video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002 she was nominated to receive an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost TV show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal character for two seasons and won an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace left the show to pursue a film career. The actress had been on the show with Tom Welling opposite in The Fog in 2005. She has appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 and Taken opposite Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. The same character was played by Grace as Kim Mills in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both 2012). Grace was back on the Lost series in the final two episodes playing Shannon. The year was 2013, and she was a guest in the sixth episode of Californication. She portrays Faith a groupie and her muse to the stars, who catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder cousin of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first roles were in films of her father when he was an adolescent. With her brother, she was also as a character in Donnie Darko (2000). Then she appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received nominations for a Golden Globe Award in both the action drama Sherrybaby (2005) and in the romance comedy Secretary (2002). Both films received acclaim from critics. She gained wider recognition after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercials she appeared in during 2006. In the film, her performance as Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent earned her nomination for an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years she appeared in comedy and dramatic films: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Apart from her character as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she also appeared as a character in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). One of her most recent roles include as the main character The Kindergarten Teacher The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal's first film as a filmmaker and writer came in 2021 when she wrote The Lost Daughter, a psychological thriller in which she won the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. She also was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
