Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. After relocating to Oxfordshire at the age of five, she enrolled in the Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to be a professional actress when she was just aged six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school that offers part-time classes. At the age of ten the actress took part in and played the leading role in a number of Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film adaption of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was discovered by agent through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were cast as the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. It broke all records in beginning-day and weekend-opening sales and was the highest-grossing film of the year 2001. Critics gave high praise to the film, particularly the young performers. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's performance "amazing". Emma got five nominations in recognition of her outstanding performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of a Film.
